Science is an exciting subject to teach. The students will learn about Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science. They will learn through hands-on activities , group and partner labs, and teacher directed lessons. Each day they will explore something new. Often we are examining new organisms under the microscope for identification. "No snakes, please" The students and I have discussed this and there are only certain instances it is allowed. Tight cages and they go home. I am pretty good with most other critters.
Social Studies is new to me this year. We will focus on Geography, Native American Indians, and the Indians of Central and South America, prior to the explorers. There will be some economics as well. The students will be watching Newsdepth which is a Current Events broadcast. The students learn about what has taken place during the past week around the World, in the United States, and Ohio.
Science and Social Studies go hand in hand. The two subjects are made for each other. We have a "Fact of the Day!". It is from Science or Social Studies and is quite fascinating. The students have enjoyed this so far.
